Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- ⅓ cup apple cider vinegar
- ⅓ cup blackstrap molasses
- ¼ cup tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon tamari soy sauce (or coconut aminos)
- 2 teaspoons mustard powder
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- Optional: for a little extra kick add a ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper or a few dashes of hot sauce

Mix and cook the sauce. In a medium saucepan, add all of the ingredients and whisk together. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer over low heat (note: if your stove temperature is too high, it will splatter). Let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly reduced.

Let it cool. Turn off the heat and allow to cool before serving or storing.
