  • 1/2 large red bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 large green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 medium onion (julienned)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tsp regular soy sauce (or light soy sauce)
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Shaoxing wine (or dry sherry wine / dry white wine / broth)
  • 1.5 tsp cornstarch (or potato starch / tapioca starch)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp white granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (or any neutral oil)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (or vegetarian stir-fry sauce)
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp regular soy sauce (or light soy sauce)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Shaoxing wine (or dry sherry wine / dry white wine / broth)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (or potato starch / tapioca starch)
  • 1/2 cup chicken stock (or beef stock, low-sodium)

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice flank steak against the grain at a 45-degree angle into 1/4-inch thick pieces. Transfer to a large mixing bowl. (Tip: To thinly slice beef easily, freeze it for 45-60 minute fully exposed and when the exterior is hardened, slice with a sharp knife).

  2. 2

Marinate sliced flank steak with the marinade ingredients as listed above for 15 minutes and set aside.

  3. 3

In a small bowl, combine the sauce ingredients as listed above and set aside.

  4. 4

Heat vegetable oil in a large pan on medium-high heat. Fry beef until cooked and slightly browned on the edges, about 2 minutes. Remove and set aside.

  5. 5

Fry onions and red bell peppers until crisp and slightly tender, about 30 seconds. Do not overcook.

  6. 6

Add the sauce and simmer to thicken, about 1 minute. Once thickened, add cooked beef and toss everything together. Enjoy!
