Sautéed Chinese Yam
Sauteed Chinese Yam is my favorite way of cooking Chinese yam. It keeps the crunchy texture of this root vegetable. This dish can be a perfect side dish for meals.

Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 1/2 long Chinese yam (peel the skin and cut into thicker slices)
- 2 tbsp. vegetable cooking oil or butter
- 1 tbsp. light soy sauce
- 1 tsp. cumin powder
- 1 tbsp. chopped scallion

Wear a glove then peel the skin of the yam. Hold your knife obliquely to cut larger cross-sections and cut the yam into thicker slices.

Add oil and place the yam slices in; continue frying over slow to middle fire until they are well seared. Keep tossing or moving them with any tools you prefer for an even heat.

Once seared, it takes about 6-7 minutes. Add light soy sauce, cumin powder, and chopped scallion.
