Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 500 gram chicken breast diced
- 1 large onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar or cooking sake
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce or oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 red capsicum sliced and grilled
- 1 tablespoon seasame seeds
- green onions for garnish
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- 1
In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, rice wine vinegar (or cooking sake), Worcestershire sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper.
- 2
Add the diced chicken breast to the marinade and mix well to coat the chicken evenly. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent.
- 4
Add the marinated chicken to the pan, along with the marinade. Stir-fry the chicken until it is cooked through and slightly caramelised, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Pour the water into the pan and stir well. Let it simmer for a few minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
- 6
Add the grilled sliced capsicum to the pan and mix well. Check the seasoning and adjust if necessary. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot over a bed of cooked rice.
