- 2 cups whole wheat flour (atta)
- 4 tablespoons ground flaxseed
- 1/2 teaspoon Himalayan salt
- 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon warm water (or as needed)
- For Rolling and Frying:
- Oil for folding and roasting
- NOTE: Some ingredients can be replaced with their vegan counterparts.
Instructions
- 1
In a stand mixer, add the whole wheat flour, ground flaxseed, salt, and warm water or milk.
- 2
Mix and knead until you get a soft and smooth dough. You can also knead the dough by hand if you prefer.
- 3
Let the dough rest for 15–20 minutes. This helps make the parathas soft and easy to roll.
- 4
After resting, divide the dough into equal portions. Each ball should be slightly smaller than a golf ball.

- 6
Take one dough ball and dust it lightly with dry flour. Roll it into a 4-inch circle.
- 7
Drizzle or brush about 1 teaspoon of ghee on top and sprinkle some dry flour.
- 8
Fold the circle in half to form a semi-circle. Brush one side of the semi-circle with ghee again and sprinkle a little flour.
- 9
Fold it once more to form a triangle.
- 10
Dust the triangle with flour and gently roll it out to 4–5 inches, keeping it about 1/8 inch thick. Parathas are usually rolled a bit thicker than rotis to give that nice, hearty texture.

Heat a tava or griddle over medium-high heat. Once hot, lower the heat to medium. Place the rolled triangle paratha on the tava.
- 13
When small bubbles appear, flip it. Brush this side with ghee or oil and cook until golden brown.
- 14
Flip again and cook the other side until crispy and evenly browned.
