Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 2 tbsp Finely chopped Onion
- 1 cup Fine Rava / Sooji / Semolina
- 1/2 cup Yogurt
- Salt to taste
- 3/4 cup Water
- 1 tsp Eno fruit salt
- 1 tsp Water
- Oil
Instructions

Heat up oil in a tadka pan.

Add mustard seeds and let them pop up.

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add onion and mix well. Cook for just about a minute until these turn nice and soft.

Keep the tadka pan aside.

In a bowl take sooji. Use raw sooji. You don’t need to roast it.

If you want you can roast sooji a little.

Add yogurt and salt. Mix well.

Add water and mix well. Appe batter is already.

Add the fried onion and mix well.

Cover and rest it for at least 15 minutes.

After resting, add Eno fruit salt and water. Mix well.

Preheat the appam Patra and add a little oil in each mold. Spread the oil.

Add appam batter in each mold.

Fill each mold up to 3/4th of its capacity as appam will rise when these are cooked.

Cook for about 2-3 minutes and flip appam over.

Loosen the edges with the help of a knife and flip over.

Cook appam for about 3-4 minutes from the other side too.

Take appam out into a dish.
