- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Water
- 1/2 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper
Instructions
- 1
Fish:
- 2
Cut fish filets into more manageable size pieces that'll fit comfortably on the dish you're planning to steam the fish on
- 3
Season the fish filet on both sides with salt, MSG, white pepper, and Shaoxing wine. Place seasoned fish filet in the center of the plate and set aside while we prep the rest of our ingredients
- 4
Prep:
- 5
Peel ginger, then cut into slices before julienning into thin strips
- 6
Cut green onion root ends off and then into thirds. Julienne green onion into strips
- 7
Sauce:
- 8
Combine soy sauce with water, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix well until sugar is fully dissolved
- 9
Steam:
- 10
Add a portion of the julienned ginger and green onions directly on top of the fish
- 11
Place fish into a steamer; if you don't have one, you can make one by rolling a piece of foil into a coil. Place at the bottom of a wide pan and fill with several inches of water
- 12
Steam the fish for 7-9 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakey
- 13
Drain any liquid that pools onto the dish
- 14
Garnish with additional ginger and green onion, and spoon over a generous amount of the sauce
- 15
In a separate pot, heat neutral oil until it reaches 450F. Pour hot oil over the fish, and enjoy!
