Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 10 dried chipotle peppers
  • 5 fresh habanero peppers, stemmed and seeded
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. 1

Let's start by getting everything ready. Soak your dried chipotle peppers in hot water for about 15 minutes until they're nice and soft

  2. 2

Once they're softened, remove the stems and seeds from the chipotle peppers

  3. 3

Chop up your fresh habanero peppers, garlic, onion, and tomatoes. Heat up some olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat

  4. 4

Toss in your minced garlic and diced onion and let them cook until they're soft and smell amazing about 3-4 minutes

  5. 5

Now, add your chopped tomatoes, soaked chipotle peppers, and fresh habanero peppers to the saucepan

  6. 6

Pour in the water and vinegar, and don't forget to sprinkle in the salt and sugar

  7. 7

Give everything a good stir and let it simmer uncovered for 10-15 minutes until the peppers are soft and the flavors have come together beautifully

  8. 8

Once your mixture has cooled down a bit, pour it into a blender

  9. 9

Blend it up until it's nice and smooth, making sure there are no big chunks left

  10. 10

If you want your hot sauce super smooth, you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve to get rid of any leftover bits.
