Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 3 Tbsp salted butter
- 1 Tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 Tsp flat-leaf parsley (minced)
- 1/4 Tsp Italian seasoning
- oil for frying
- 1 13.8-oz can refrigerated pizza dough
Instructions
- 1
In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, parsley, and Italian seasoning. Mix it together and set it aside. You’ll be brushing this over the breadsticks later.
- 2
Pour about an inch of oil into a deep skillet or pot. You want enough to fry the breadsticks and have them partially submerged. Turn the heat on medium-high and wait until the oil reaches around 360ºF. If you don’t have a thermometer, toss in a tiny piece of dough—if it starts bubbling and floats, you’re good to go!
- 3
Open the can of pizza dough, then unroll it onto your work surface. Using a sharp knife, slice the dough lengthwise right down the middle so you have two long strips. Now cut across the dough horizontally to make 1-inch wide strips. Try to be gentle so the dough doesn’t stretch out too much.
- 4
Carefully place a few strips of dough into the hot oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2 minutes until they puff up and turn golden brown on the underside. Flip them over gently and let the other side fry until it's also golden brown.
- 5
Transfer the fried breadsticks to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain the oil. Immediately brush them with the garlic butter mixture while they’re still hot. If you want extra buttery goodness, flip them over and brush the other side too.
- 6
If you’re frying in batches, keep the cooked breadsticks warm by placing them in a 250ºF oven. This way, they’ll stay nice and toasty until all of them are ready to be served. Dassit.
