How to Cook Cauliflower – Oma's Blumenkohl mit Butterbröseln
Oma's way how to cook cauliflower, Blumenkohl, is one of the easiest ways to make one of the traditional German vegetables. Topped with buttered bread crumbs, it's a great addition to almost any meal.

Ingredients

- 1 teaspoon (6 grams) salt
- 2 pounds (908 grams) cauliflower, cut into florets
- 4 tablespoons (60 grams) butter
- ½ cup (60 grams) breadcrumbs

Add about 2 inches of water and the salt to a large pot. Bring to a boil. Add the cauliflower florets. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cover and cook until fork-tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.

Meanwhile, melt the butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the breadcrumbs and stir. Continue frying and stirring until the breadcrumbs are nicely browned. BE CAREFUL, the crumbs can quickly turn black.

Remove them to a bowl immediately to stop the browning.

Serve the cauliflower with the buttered breadcrumbs sprinkled on top.
