Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 4.9 oz (140g) green cabbage (about 2 cups)
  • 2 green onions
  • 1 strip uncooked bacon (60g)
  • 1 tbsp neutral-tasting oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce (or soy sauce / kosher salt to taste)
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup (210g) steamed rice
  • Generous pinch of toasted sesame seeds, to garnish

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice the cabbage (about 2 cups), not too thin, not too thick. Thinly slice the green onions and bacon.

  2. 2

In a pan over medium heat, add the oil (1 tbsp) and bacon. Cook for 1 minute.

  3. 3

Add the minced garlic and green onions (Save for garnish). Saute for 1 minute or until fragrant.

  4. 4

Add the cabbage, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and black pepper to taste. Stir-fry it for 2 minutes or until the cabbage is cooked through but still crunchy.

  5. 5

Using a spatula, make a little space in the middle. Into that empty space, crack an egg and cook to your liking. Add more oil if needed.

  6. 6

To serve, put some rice into a bowl. Top with the cabbage and egg. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy~!
