Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 1 pound ground meat. Use chicken, pork or turkey meat.
  • 2 tablespoon oil. Or as needed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoon tom yum paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup shallot, chopped small
  • 1/4 cup cilantro stems, chopped small
  • 1 tablespoon lemongrass, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon galangal, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon kaffir lime leaves, finely minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup panko
  • 2 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tamarind or lime juice

Instructions

    Chop ingredients well into small pieces—especially the aromatics.

    Add all the ingredients to the ground meat in a large bowl.

    Mix well, using a spatula or your hands. Kitchen gloves are handy here.

    Rolls the Tom Yum meatballs into golf ball-sized pieces.

    Over medium heat, add oil, then fry the meatballs. Cook until done, 5-6 minutes per side. Cook in batches if necessary.

    Garnish with chopped green onions (spring onions), red chilis, or cilantro or julienned kaffir lime leaves. Enjoy!
