Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 cup shrimp peeled
- 8 slices French stick or 4 slices of bread cut in 2
- 1 onion grated
- 4 tablespoons white seasame seeds
- 1 teaspoon ginger grated
- 2 teaspoons garlic crushed
- corn flour for dusting
- salt and pepper to taste
- vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- 1
Place the sesame seeds in a medium-heated pan and brown, being careful not to burn.
- 2
Combine the shrimp, garlic, ginger, grated onion, egg, salt, and black pepper in a bowl and mix together. The mixture should remain firm and fairly dry; if it becomes too wet, add a little dusting of corn flour.
- 3
Press 2 spoons of the mixture onto each piece of bread, covering the entire top surface.
- 4
Refrigerate the bread for 2 hours in an airtight container to contain the odor.
- 5
In a pan, deep-fry the bread, shrimp side down, ensuring the shrimp is firmly stuck to the bread before dipping.
- 6
Once brown, turn the bread over and fry the other side for a moment.
- 7
Drain on paper towels before serving.
- 8
Serve with a mix of vinegar, fish sauce, and sweet chili sauce as a dipping sauce.
