Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 250g Fresh Strawberries, de-stem
- 3 tbsp Granulated White Sugar or Monk Fruit Sugar
- 2 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice
Instructions
- 1
Add baking soda to cold water and soak the strawberries in a large bowl for 5 minutes. It would be even better to cover and shake it a few times.
- 2
Rinse and pat dry fresh strawberries with a kitchen paper towel.
- 3
Alternatively, soak and wash the fresh strawberries with a fruit and veggie spray like this one.
- 4
De-stem the strawberries and remove the core with a strawberry huller or a sharp pairing knife.
- 5
If using frozen strawberries, allow time to thaw.
- 6
Slice strawberries or cut the strawberries into small pieces by hand or pulse a few times with a food processor.
- 7
Mix strawberries with white sugar and fresh lemon juice in a large bowl. Mix well.
- 8
Allow the strawberry mixture to rest at room temperature until the sugar dissolves for approximately half an hour.
- 9
During the sugar marinating process, the sugar will draw out the soaking fruits' own juices and turn them into a delicious dessert sweet sauce.
