Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 350°F (176°C). In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and salt until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually beat in the flour, then stir in the pecans and chocolate chips.

    Shape the dough into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls and place them 2 inches (5 cm) apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until set and the bottoms are lightly browned. Cool on the pans for 2 minutes.

    Roll the warm cookies in confectioners' sugar. Cool completely on wire racks. If desired, reroll the cookies in confectioners' sugar. Yield: about 4 dozen.
