Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 200g beef, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1.5 tbsp Satay paste
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk (or evaporated milk)
  • a pinch of salt
  • a knob of butter
  • honey
  • condensed milk

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine satay beef marinade ingredients with thinly sliced beef. Marinate the beef for at least 1 hour.

  2. 2

Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add sliced onions and stir-fry until softened.

  3. 3

Add marinated beef and stir-fry until the beef is around 70% cooked (as we will continue to cook the beef later in the air-fryer). Add dark soy sauce to give it some colour. Remove and set aside.

  4. 4

In a shallow dish, whisk in eggs, milk and a pinch of salt. Stack two slices of bread on top of each other, then dip the all sides of the bread into the egg mixture.

  5. 5

Brush some vegetable oil on baking paper and lay it in your air-fryer. Add one slide of bread (with clean side of the bread facing up), and spoon some satay beef on top. Then stack with the other slice of bread (egg-dipped side facing up). Gently press the edges down to stick both slices of bread together.

  6. 6

At 180˚C / 356˚F, air-fry for 6-7 minutes on one side. Gently flip the toast and air-fry for another 6-7 minutes (~14 minutes total).

  7. 7

Serve with a knob of butter, honey and condensed milk. Enjoy!
