Making our own frozen yogurt for the first time was a revelation. Luscious, creamy, bursting with flavor, tasting of sun-ripened fruit, it was something to celebrate lazy summer days. And all this without an ice cream machine!

Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 1 pound cherries, pitted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup greek style yogurt
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Instructions

    Put the pitted cherries and sugar in a big bowl, toss and let sit for a couple of hours to macerate.

    Add yogurt and lemon juice to cherries and blend until smooth.

    Cover and freeze for an hour.

  4. 4

    Check every half hour and if the edges are forming frozen crystals, beat til smooth.

    After about three hours the mix will be thick and uniform. Cover and let freeze overnight or serve soft serve style.
