I think it tastes pretty identical to the brand I grew up on and still love today.

Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 2 Lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 2 1/2 Tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tsp rubbed sage
  • 1/2 Tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 Tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 Tsp black pepper (freshly cracked)
  • 1/4 Tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 Tsp ground rosemary

Instructions

  1. 1

Start by combining the ground turkey with all the seasonings in a large mixing bowl. You’ll want to make sure everything is evenly mixed, so don’t be shy—get your hands in there and really work it through!

  2. 2

Once everything’s well combined, shape the mixture into evenly sized balls. Then, press them down gently to form patties about 1/4" thick.

  3. 3

When you’re ready to cook, heat a frying pan over medium-high heat. Drizzle in a bit of vegetable oil to keep things from sticking, then add your patties in a single layer. Let them sear on one side, then flip and cook until they’re done all the way through—about 5-7 minutes per side, depending on thickness.

  4. 4

If you’re not cooking all the patties right away, no worries. You can store the uncooked patties by placing them between sheets of parchment paper and popping them into an airtight container. They’ll last up to 3 days in the fridge, but if you need more time, wrap them in foil and freeze them. You don’t even have to thaw them before cooking, just know they’ll take a bit longer to cook from frozen.

  5. 5

Once they’re cooked through, serve them however you like—with grits, maybe on a bun, or just as they are. Dassit!
