Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 3 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 1¼ cups milk, divided
  • ¾ cup butter, room temperature
  • 1¼ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt pan.

  2. 2

Combine chocolate and ¼ cup milk in a small saucepan. Stir over low heat until chocolate melts. Let cool.

  3. 3

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.

  4. 4

Add almond extract and eggs, beating until well incorporated.

  5. 5

In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.

  6. 6

Alternately add dry ingredients and remaining 1 cup milk to the butter mixture, beating until smooth.

  7. 7

Pour two-thirds of the batter into the prepared Bundt pan.

  8. 8

Stir the cooled chocolate mixture into the remaining batter.

  9. 9

Spoon chocolate batter over plain batter. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.

  10. 10

Bake for 60–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  11. 11

Cool cake in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes.

  12. 12

Remove from pan, cool completely, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
