Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- ~1 lb ground beef
- 3 tbsp bread crumbs
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups beef stock
- ~200-300 g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp dark soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Green onions, chopped
- Garlic cloves, thinly-sliced
Instructions
- 1
Slice the garlic into thin, uniform slices (using a mandoline helps!)
- 2
Heat a pot of oil over medium heat. Add the garlic slices into the oil, they should slightly bubble and sizzle as they fry.
- 3
Lower the heat to a medium-low. Continue to fry the garlic slices until they've become golden in color.
- 4
Immediately strain out the garlic chips to avoid burning (over-toasted/burnt garlic is incredibly bitter!)
- 5
Let rest on a paper towel plate to dry and absorb excess oil.
- 6
Prepare the burger patties by combining all the ingredients together in a bowl. Shape the patties into thin circular discs, weighing around 6 oz each.
- 7
Fry the burger patties on both sides for around 2-3 minutes, or until browned and cooked all the way through. Set aside.
- 8
In the same pan, add in the mushrooms. Cook the mushrooms down until they soften, about 5-8 minutes. Add in the garlic, and saute for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- 9
Add in the flour, stir and cook for an additional 2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
- 10
Pour in the beef stock and dark soy sauce. Season with onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer on medium for 5-10 minutes, or until thickened to your desired consistency.
- 11
Pour over the fried burger patties and top with chopped green onions and crispy garlic chips. Enjoy!
