Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 1 rack ribs
  • 4 tsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 tsp light brown sugar
  • 4 tsp salt
  • ⅔ cup BBQ sauce (store bought)

Instructions

  1. 1

Use a spice grinder to break down the coriander seeds. Add to a small bowl.

  2. 2

Add the nutmeg, cinnamon, salt, and light brown sugar to the bowl and mix.

  3. 3

Coat the ribs evenly with the spice rub. Make sure to remove the membrane from the underside of the ribs before you add the rub. This is a great video on how to do it.

  4. 4

Marinate the ribs for at least 1 hour. Do this overnight for the best flavor.

  5. 5

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees F.

  6. 6

After marinating, put the ribs on a baking sheet. Cover the ribs with aluminum foil and bake for 2.5 hours. I covered the ribs with aluminum foil so the heat and steam could cook the ribs without drying it out. You can either wrap the ribs or cover the entire length of the baking sheet with foil.

  7. 7

Take the ribs out. Increase the oven temperature to a low broil (~450 degrees F).

  8. 8

Brush an even layer of barbecue sauce on the ribs and let it bake uncovered for another 20-30 minutes to solidify the glaze.

  9. 9

Brush on another layer of barbecue sauce before serving.
