- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
- For The Filling
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 cup ground or finely chopped walnuts

Finely chop the walnuts. You can put them in the food processor and pulse for a few seconds. Finely chop the onion.

Pour a little oil into a saucepan and saute the onion for 3 to 5 minutes until golden and soft. Then add chopped walnuts, salt, and black pepper. saute for another 5 minutes.

Then remove from heat and set aside. Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and set aside for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, the mixture should be bubbly.

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the milk, the yeast mixture, and oil to the flour and mix together. Then knead for a few minutes so that the dough does not stick to your hands and it's starting to be elastic.

Cover and leave in a warm place to rise for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375ºF. Line baking trays with parchment paper. Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces.

Gently roll out each piece into a small ball. Take a bun and make a dent in the middle and fill with walnut stuffing. Bring the edges together and smoothen the balls.

Place them on a baking tray. Flatten them slightly and brush each one with egg yolk. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes until golden and crisp on the edges.
