German Apple Strudel Recipe – Oma's Apfelstrudel Rezept
German apple strudel (Apfelstrudel) is one of my favorite desserts. Flaky pastry, tart apples, and a touch of sweetness.

Ingredients
Quantities are shown as originally provided.
- 1 pound (450 g) apples, peeled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons (25 g) sugar
- 1 tablespoon (8 g) flour
- ¼ cup (25 g) sliced almonds
- ¼ cup (40 g) raisins
- ½ pound (225 g) puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten for brushing

In a large bowl, mix sliced apples with sugar, flour, almonds, and raisins.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry into a rectangle about 12x16 inches.

Spread apple mixture down the center of the pastry. Fold sides over the filling and roll up, seam-side down. Tuck ends under.

Place strudel on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
