Ingredients

  • Ingredients mentioned below use standard measuring cups and spoons.
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 4 garlic cloves(sliced fine or minced)
  • 1 ' piece of ginger(sliced or minced)
  • 2 medium-sized tomatoes chopped
  • 1 large onion sliced fine
  • 4 banana peppers sliced fine(substitute with green chillies or bell pepper for a milder flavor)
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder(increase or decrease as per your need)
  • 2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp Jaffna curry powder(substitute with roasted curry poowder or regular curry powder)
  • 2 can tuna(chunks)

Instructions

    How to cook canned tuna.

    Have all the ingredients ready.

    Drain the canned tuna and set it aside.

    Place a medium-sized skillet or frying pan over a low fire.

  5. 5

    Pour in the oil, add the sliced garlic(sliced or minced)and the ginger(sliced or minced).

    Sauté for a few seconds until they release their aroma.

    Add the onions and tomatoes, cook over low-medium heat until the onions turn soft and you have broken down the tomato pieces. 3-5 minutes.

    Add the Banana peppers and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.

    Avoid increasing heat as you don’t want to fry the onions here.

    Once you have all the ingredients in the frying pan, Sautéed, add the turmeric powder, combine well.

    Add the red chilli powder, followed by the Jaffna curry powder(substitute with roasted or regular curry powder).

    Cook over medium fire for 2-3 minutes until well combined.

    Add the canned tuna to the spice mix.

    Season with salt and mix to incorporate the spice mix over low to medium heat.

    Avoid breaking the tuna chunks too much.

    You want the tuna pieces to be broken down into smaller pieces but not mashed into a spread-like consistency.
