Ingredients

Quantities are shown as originally provided.

  • 225 g halloumi cheese ((See Note 1))
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 2 tbsp semolina flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 lemon (sliced for serving)

Instructions

    Cut the cheese horizontally through the middle.

    On a small plate using a fork, whisk the egg. On another small plate add the semolina. Dip each piece of cheese into the beaten egg and coat all over. Shake off excess and coat with the semolina on all sides.

    In a skillet over medium heat add the olive oil. Fry the cheese for a couple of minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove cheese from heat and cut each piece into 4 pieces.

    Transfer to a plate and drizzle with honey and divided black sesame seeds and oregano. Serve with lemon slices.
